Tune your Windows 2008 System

If you operate Proxy Sniffer on a Windows Server 2008 we strongly recommend that you tune the maximal number of network connections by performing the following two tasks:
  1. Start regedit.exe and create the following new entry *: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Tcpip\Parameters\ TcpTimedWaitDelay = 30 (decimal, dword)
  2. Enter the following command from a command prompt: netsh int ipv4 set dynamicport tcp start=12288 num=53247
After that you have to reboot your Windows system. * = This recommendation applies to all Windows product versions (XP, Vista, 7, 2003, 2008)
